How does oral semaglutide work?
An oral tablet can still be a GLP-1 receptor agonist. Buckley and colleagues reported in Science Translational Medicine (2018) that a derivatized GLP-1 receptor agonist can be absorbed from the stomach as a tablet. Compounded oral semaglutide is not FDA-approved and is not the same as an FDA-approved oral GLP-1 product.
